Olivet’s
Department of Music spotlights student conductors and performers in the 2013 Band Winter Showcase. Show times are Friday and Saturday, February 1 and 2, 7 and 9 p.m. both evenings, at Kresge Auditorium in the Larsen Fine Arts Center on Olivet’s campus.
This year’s production, “Fables,” tells the traditional fairy tale of a princess, portrayed by
Lauren James (junior, forensic chemistry major, Downs, Ill.), and a knight, portrayed by
Josh Kurchinski (sophomore, music major, Palos Heights, Ill.), through movement and music. The princess is kidnapped by a dragon —
Trinity Evans (sophomore, graphic design major, Calumet City, Ill.) — and is desperate to find a friend. The valiant knight marches in to save this damsel in distress.
Director for this production is
Zachary Kohlmeier (senior, music major, Saunemin, Ill.), assisted by
Joy Matthews (senior, music major, Dubuque, Iowa) and
Stephanie Moore (senior, social science major, Mount Pleasant, Mich.), conductors; and
Paul Matthews (sophomore, graphic design major, Dubuque, Iowa) and
Paige Penrod (sophomore, music education major, Saint Anne, Ill.).
Admission for this event is $5 for adults, $2 for students with a discount card, and no charge for children age three and younger. Tickets may be purchased at the door or, for Olivet students, in Ludwig Center during meal times. For more information, call 815-939-5110 or email
