“I have some good news to announce,” said Dr. John C. Bowling, University president, as he opened the press conference in the lobby of the Student Life and Recreation Center. He and Phil Emery, general manager of the Chicago Bears, announced today that the agreement for Training Camp to be held on Olivet’s campus has been extended for nine more years. This is their longest agreement on record. A two-year contract has already been negotiated and signed.
As benefits of this relationship, Dr. Bowling cited stability for the Bears’ organization and further development of Olivet’s facilities.
Phil Emery was part of the very first Training Camp at Olivet. He expressed his excitement about the agreement, emphasizing that both the Bears and Olivet always do things right and in a first-class way.
Both agreed that Training Camp provides both a touchpoint for Bears’ fans to see and interact with the players, as well as an opportunity for more people to learn about what Olivet has to offer.
“We are moving forward to help one another grow,” Emery said.
