Christian Education

  • Whether serving on a church staff or in a Christian school, you will need to prepare for a leadership role in Christian education. We are here to help you.

    As a Christian education leader, your job will be to provide opportunities for spiritual enrichment and fellowship for adults, youth and children. You will plan and implement spiritual, educational, recreational and service activities for them.

    Coordinating all of a church’s educational ministries is a multi-faceted job. Learn about the latest in Christian education materials for all ages and groups so you can provide leadership in choosing materials and planning programs. Practice taking the lead in planning and publicizing educational opportunities. Plan and lead intergenerational learning activities. Experience what it’s like to be the point person for ensuring children’s safety as they participate in your programs.

    Leading a force of volunteer teachers and workers, you will be responsible for recruiting, training and overseeing the work they do. Begin your preparation for this at Olivet.

    Communication is key to the success of your work. Grow in ways to help you communicate effectively with a wide variety of people — orally, in writing and electronically.

    Relating and working with your church’s governing board and staff also comes with the job. You will be conducting and participating in many meetings. Begin sharpening those skills now.

    Putting knowledge to work 

    Missions in Action (M.I.A.)[link to M.I.A. page] sponsors student mission trips to serve people living on the continents of Asia, Africa, South America as well as in the U.S.
