    Putting knowledge to work

All of our programs include a service learning component. We prepare you for serving God and humanity in whatever career field you choose. Working with your classmates, you evaluate and plan how your group can use your gifts to serve the marginalized people in Kankakee County – the homeless, developmentally disabled, mentally challenged, elderly. You may:

    • put together a show
    • plan and lead a fundraiser for a shelter
    • help people tell their most compelling life stories
    • or engage with area residents in many other ways.

Become a member of Lambda Pi Eta, the National Communication Association’s official honor society. This organization represents what Aristotle described in The Rhetoric as three ingredients of persuasion: logos (Lambda), meaning logic; pathos (Pi), relating to emotion; and ethos (Eta), defined as character credibility and ethics. Its goals are to recognize, foster and reward outstanding scholastic achievement while stimulating interest in the communication discipline.

To complete your required internship, tap into the world of communication in Chicago, the #3-media market in the United States. Olivet’s proximity and professional connections offer you many choices for world-class, high-caliber internships. You also have many advantages for finding a job after graduation.
