Title IX Compliance and Services

  • What is Title IX?

    Title IX is a federal law that prohibits sex discrimination in federally funded education programs and activities. Title IX states as follows:

    "No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance."

    Discrimination on the basis of sex (i.e., sex discrimination) includes sexual harassment, sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence, and stalking.

    Olivet Nazarene University is committed to maintaining an environment that is free from all forms of sex discrimination and sexual harassment, including sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence, and stalking. In keeping with this commitment, we do not tolerate sexual harassment against any member of the University community, including students, faculty or staff, by any member of the University community, or by contractors, consultants or vendors doing business with or providing services to the University.

    Any inquiries regarding Title IX or the University's Policy Against Discrimination, Harassment and Retaliation should be directed to the Title IX Coordinator identified below or to any other member of the University's Title IX Committee, listed in the "Reporting" section.

    The Title IX Coordinator is responsible for implementing and monitoring Title IX compliance on behalf of Olivet Nazarene University. This includes coordination of training, education, communications and administration of the complaint and grievance procedures for the handling of suspected or alleged violations of this policy.
