Ollies Follies: At the beginning of the fall semester, classes compete against one another at Ollies Follies. This weekend includes an opening Shine.fm concert, back to school party at Hidden Cove Family Fun Park, softball, sand volleyball, dodgeball, ultimate Frisbee, flag football, pyramid-building, relay games, and a home football game. Ollies Follies concludes with a variety show concert.
Fall and Winter Revival Services: A time of spiritual renewal is scheduled each semester. A special speaker and musician lead worship in morning chapel and evening services.
Friends and Family Weekend: In the fall, friends and family of students are invited to be our guests for the weekend. Activities will include a football game, women’s soccer, open house in the resident halls, stage production of Broadway Revue, themed dinner hosted by Sodexho Dining Services and a Shine.fm-hosted concert.
Orpheus Variety Show: Orpheus Choir’s variety show is by far one of the most anticipated weekend events of the fall semester.
Costume Party: At the height of the fall season, a costume party will be hosted at Hidden Cove Family Fun Park. The party features a costume contest, bonfires, hayrides, pumpkin decorating, live jazz music, and food.
Homecoming: Homecoming is a great time for all Olivetians. Students, alumni, faculty, staff, and guests enjoy a weekend full of exciting events. Activities include coronations, homecoming chapel, powder-puff football, men’s and women’s basketball, 5K run, class reunions, open houses, social gatherings, and concerts.
Fall and Spring Plays: ONU Communication Department productions featuring ONU students from a variety of majors perform classic stage plays under the direction of Professor Jerry Cohagen.
Handel’s Messiah/Sounds of the Season: Annual presentations by the department of music highlight the Christmas season.
One silent Night Benefit Concert: This benefit concert is hosted annually by student volunteers and ASC’s Spiritual Life to raise money for a local charity. Students gather for two candlelight concerts in Kelley Prayer Chapel.
Late Night Exam Attack: Late night study break sponsored by Sodexho Dining Services at the close of each semester the night before final exams begin.
Christmas Banquest/El Trio De Hoy: The annual Christmas banquet is a mid-year formal for students, featuring a catered meal and entertainment. This memorable event is a joint effort of the student-elected Social Committee, Sodexho Dining Services, ONU Media, and the Office of Community Life.
First-Week Activities/Makom Festival: A time set aside to welcome new students, re-connect with friends, and worship at the start of Spring semester.
Tiger Championship Wrestling (TCW): TCW is a Men’s Residential Life sponsored wrestling event showcasing props, costumes, flips, more flips, and male testosterone. Past wrestling matches have debuted Manteno Mangler, Half and Half, and Dreamsicle.
Band Winter Showcase: Have you ever hear of Blue Man Group, Stomp, or Blast? Don’t miss out on this high-energy stage performance by ONU student musicians.
Spring Musical: The ONU Communication and Music Departments combine creative energies to bring yesterday’s and today’s Broadway productions alive on the Olivet stage.
ONU Star Search: A night celebrating diversity within the performing arts, hosted by the Multi-Ethnic Relations Club, the ONU talent show features everything from bands and choreographed routines, to instrumental and vocal acts. This is an event not to miss!
Night of Jazz: The department of music hosts their annual Night of Jazz featuring the ONU Jazz Band and guest artist. Previous artists include local high school jazz bands and famed recording artist Dan Oxley.
Mr. ONU: Competitors are chosen by their respective class to run the creative skit and talent gauntlet to claim the crown of Mr. ONU. This annual event is hosted and sponsored by ASC’s Women’s Residential Life.
Gospel Choir Concert: Proclamation Gospel Choir concludes their spring concert series with a ticketed event held in Chalfant Hall.
Junior/Senior Banquet: At the close of each school year, the junior class hosts a formal banquet off campus to honor the graduating senior class amidst beautiful décor and fine dining.
Commencement Weekend: Commencement weekend includes the Phi Delta Lambda (Nazarene Honor Society) banquet, Nursing pinning ceremony, the Baccalaureate Service, and outdoor Graduation (weather permitting).
