Chapel and Community Worship

Chapel and FirstWords

Chapel is a vital part of community life at Olivet Nazarene University. Through these weekly services, each segment of the college community has the opportunity to join with others for worship, instruction, and encouragement to serve. Notable and world-renown speakers regularly address the Olivet community during chapel. Past speakers have included: former Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor; Jeff Sheler, contributing editor for U.S. News and World Report; and Mike Singletary, former Chicago Bear and member of the NFL Hall of Fame.

Chapel is held in Chalfant Hall from 9:35-10:20 a.m. every Wednesday and Thursday. During special emphasis weeks, chapels may extend to other days.

In addition, FirstWords, a chapel specifically designed for the freshman class, is held each Tuesday morning from 9:35-10:20 a.m. at College Church of the Nazarene.

Party with Jesus

Party with Jesus is a student-led praise service conducted every Monday from 9:30-10:30 p.m. Singing, sharing and prayer highlight this worship experience, in which students have a chance to testify, share devotional thoughts and worship Jesus Christ.

Local churches

In addition to attending worship services on campus, Olivet students are encouraged to find a church home in the local community. Several churches, of various denominations, can be found within a short drive, or even walking distance, of the ONU campus.
