SFC Michael Brooks

Sergeant First Class Brooks is a native of Akron, OH. He enlisted into the Army as an Infantryman in April 2005 and completed One Station Unit Training at Fort Benning, GA. During his career, SFC Brooks served as a Light Infantry Platoon Sergeant, Assistant Operations Sergeant, Weapons Squad Leader, Scout Squad Leader and Team Leader. He has contributed to the overall success of 5 combat deployments in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Freedom Sentinel.

SFC Brooks has been assigned to the following units: Division Special Troops Battalion, 1st Calvary Division, Fort Hood, TX; 2ndBattalion 506thInfantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team (Currahee), 101st Airborne Division, Fort Campbell, KY; 1st Squadron, 3rd Calvary Regiment, Fort Hood, TX; 3rd Battalion 21st Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division, Fort Wainwright, AK; 2nd Battalion 22nd Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division (LI), Fort Drum, NY.

SFC Brooks’ military education includes Maneuver Senior Leaders Course (MSLC), Advanced Leaders Course (ALC), Basic Leaders Course (BLC), Long Range Marksmanship Course, Air Assault Course, Fast Rope Insertion Extraction System Master, Cold Weather Leaders Course, SHARP Foundations Course, Battle Staff Course, Master Fitness Trainer Course, Master Resilience Trainer Course and Rappel Master Course.

SFC Brooks’ awards and decorations include: the Bronze Star Medal, Army Commendation Medal ( 7 Oak Leaf Cluster), Army Achievement Medal ( 3 Oak Leaf Cluster with Combat Device), Army Good Conduct Medal ( 5th Award), National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal ( 5 Campaign Stars), Iraqi Campaign Medal ( 2 Campaign Stars), Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Non-commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon ( 3 Device), Army Service Ribbon, NATO Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, Expert Infantryman Badge, Drivers Badge, and the Air Assault Badge.

Additionally, he has earned his Associates Degree in General Studies and is currently working towards his Bachelor of Science in Sports and Health Science at the American Military University.

He is married to Nicci (San Antonio, TX) who is a birth photographer, and they have one daughter Scarlett (9) and one son Banks (4).
