Alison Young Reusser

The goal of Olivet’s Ed.D candidates is to create an understanding of the world that wasn’t there before. Although that sounds like an insurmountable task, our experts are more than equipped to come alongside experts in their fields to achieve this very end. Dr. Alison Young Reusser joined Olivet’s full-time faculty in 2014 to teach courses in psychology, social psychology, stereotyping and prejudice, research and statistics, and physiological psychology. Her areas of expertise include social psychology, attitudes, social cognition, and more. 

Dr. Young Reusser always had an interest in psychology and types of research questions, knew she wanted to something in academics, and has since learned to love and speak the language of research studies and statistics. With this passion, she is steeped in methods and statistics and knows that God equipped her to help others through the research process. 

She prides herself in helping students get set up for quality data that can be appropriately evaluated, preparing them with planning and development to avoid the horror stories that can happen when a doctoral candidate isn’t set up for research success. Plus, she finds joy in sharing in the process of learning new things.

Playing guitar and singing on the worship team at church is one of the ways Dr. Young Reusser enjoys serving outside the classroom. She serves as the worship leader at her church’s Celebrate Recovery ministry. Her husband, George, is a computer engineer, and she has a daughter, Isobel, a little over one year old.
