As the college season begins, Olivet Nazarene University Tiger baseball is hosting two special events on campus. Head Coach Todd Reid and his team are excited about welcoming these select groups and sharing in the fun with them.
Father-Son Baseball Clinic at Olivet
On October 1, 2017, at 2 p.m., ONU Tiger baseball will be hosting a father-son clinic at Watson Field. Special guests for this event are Texas Ranger’s Josh Altmann and his father, Walter. Cost is $25 per family. Contact Trevor Santor at tlsantor@olivet.edu or 815-928-5560 for more information.
Josh Altmann ’16 was drafted by the Rangers in the 22nd round of the 2015 MLB draft. He was the 17th of 40 players drafted from the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) conference and one of three drafted from the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC).
As he continues his progress with the Texas Rangers in MLB’s Minor League Baseball, Josh is currently with the Down East Wood Ducks. He ended the 2017 season with 10 homeruns and 38 RBIs with a .244 batting average. He also made his first All-Star roster appearance in the 2017 Carolina League All-Star Classic.
ONU Baseball Alumni Day
Tiger baseball alumni look forward to Alumni Day each year. This year’s event is Saturday, October 14, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The festivities will begin with the second annual ONU Baseball Golf Outing (a nine-hole scramble) at 8:30 a.m. Contact Coach Reid at treid@olivet.edu for details, including cost.
Players will then meet at Watson Field for a 1 p.m. game time. Alumni players, dust off your gloves and grab your baseball bats for this fun-filled day with your past teammates!
