On Saturday, May 5, the Olivet Nazarene University women’s track and field team captured its ninth consecutive Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Championship. The Tiger men’s track and field team claimed the top spot, more than 100 points ahead of their closest competitors. Head Coach Mike McDowell was named CCAC Coach of the Year.

For the Tiger women’s team, ONU held off St. Ambrose University (Iowa) to claim the title by 22 points. Carlie Vannatta, a senior special education major, was selected as the CCAC Field Athlete of the Meet. She finished first in the hammer, fourth in the shot put and second in the discus.
Also bringing home first place finishes in individual events were:
Karalynn Brock, a junior majoring in child development, 5000m Run
Anne Brown, a senior zoology major, High Jump
Kylie Davis, a junior nursing major, Shot Put
Blake Inglis, a junior communications major, Javelin
Jezri Rinehart, a junior zoology major, Discus
Emily Troemel, a senior physical education/health major, 400m Hurdles
Shariden Varner, a sophomore interior design major, Pole Vault
Men’s track and field team
After having claimed the CCAC Championship for eight consecutive seasons, last season the Olivet Nazarene University men’s track and field team saw their streak come to an end. The Tigers used that year to prepare and aim to reclaim their spot at the top.
ONU did just that — and did it in dominating fashion in 2018. As competition came to a close on Saturday, May 5, the Tigers were back on top with their closest competition nearly 100 points behind.
Andrew Franklin, a junior engineering major, captured the Field Athlete of the Meet award for his title in the hammer, plus second place finishes in both the shot put and the discus.

Zach Hulliberger, a senior accounting major, 5000m Run
Steven Linton, a sophomore nursing major, 200m Run
Wesley Meyer, a sophomore geology major, 800m Hurdles and 1500m Run
John Munyan, a freshman computer science major, 3000m Steeplechase
Jalon Simpson, a sophomore sport management major, Javelin
Bryce Vollrath, a sophomore engineering major, Shot Put, Hammer and Discus
