On day two of competition at the 38th Annual National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Women’s Outdoor Track and Field National Championships, Kylie Davis of Olivet Nazarene University achieved the highest honor of her career.
With her fifth throw of the finals, she edged out the closest competitors and claimed her spot atop the podium for the shot put event. With her throw of 15.61m (51′ 2 3/4 “), she was the best of 17 who competed in the event.
Olivet Tiger women’s track and field team members were part of the 563 competitors — representing 135 U.S. institutions — gathered for this three-day 2018 National Championships event, May 24 to 26, at Mickey Miller Blackwell Stadium, Gulf Shores, Alabama.
Kylie, now a senior nursing major at Olivet, is a great asset to the Tiger athletics program. She claimed the championship spot for the 2018 Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) shot put event and helped lead her team to Olivet’s ninth consecutive CCAC Championship.
During the 2018 season, she received two CCAC Field Athlete of the Week honors. For April 16–22, 2018, she was named NAIA Field Athlete of the Week for finishing first out of 41 athletes in the shot put with a mark of 14.83m.
Kylie’s academic honors include 2018 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete and 2018 CCAC All-Academic.
