Kenny Huber ’10/’14 M.O.L. is taking over the reins of the Olivet Nazarene University Tiger men’s soccer program beginning in the fall of 2018. He served as an assistant coach at ONU for five seasons before taking a head coaching position on the West Coast.
“Kenny has many years of successful coaching experience at ONU, and we are really pleased to have him return,” said Gary Newsome, director of athletics. “He will continue excellence in the men’s soccer program. We are confident that this man of character will be a great leader for our team. Kenny knows soccer, and he knows the ONU mission — a perfect fit for the University.”
David Blahnik recently resigned his position as head coach to pursue other opportunities and move closer to extended family. Under Coach Blahnik, the Tigers compiled an 83-31-13 record, making four national tournament appearances. The Tigers claimed two Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) regular season titles and four tournament titles. In 2016, ONU posted the most wins in program history with 16.
Coach Huber served as an assistant coach and graduate assistant under Coach Blahnik for five years, helping lead the Tigers to four CCAC tournament titles.
“I am very excited to be coming back to my alma mater in this head coach position,” Coach Huber says. “My wife and I have so many great memories here at Olivet, and we are happy to be back and part of the ONU family again.”
He adds, “Get ready for an exciting year for ONU men’s soccer!”
