Celebrating the most recent honor from CollegesofDistinction.com, Olivet Nazarene University’s Department of Nursing in the School of Life and Health Sciences continues its commitment to quality education and faculty. As the demand for nurses increases, Olivet graduates are entering the profession well-prepared for success.
Outstanding nursing education programs
Currently Olivet’s largest major, Olivet’s nursing degree programs also extend into the School of Graduate and Continuing Studies with these additional degree offerings: R.N. to Bachelor of Science in Nursing (B.S.N.); R.N. to Master of Science in Nursing (M.S.N.); and Master of Science in Nursing: Education, Leadership/Management or Family Nurse Practitioner tracks. Also available is the Family Nurse Practitioner Certification.
Genesis Garcia received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (B.S.N.) degree from Olivet in 2018. Today, she is a nurse at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago.

Program distinctives
Olivet students and graduates consistently affirm these program distinctives:
• Licensing exam pass rate — Olivet graduates enrolled in the traditional program consistently exceed the national average pass rate for the NCLEX-RN, the licensing exam for registered nurses.
• Simulation labs — These learning laboratories on campus feature the best in training and equipment. Students work with mannequins that breathe, cry and sweat to develop their patient care skills.
• Experienced faculty — All faculty members have professional experience in the healthcare field. Many also have experience serving on the mission field, in churches or with nonprofit organizations.
• Dedicated advisors — From the day they enroll in the program, each nursing student has a nursing faculty member as a one-on-one advisor.
• Christian faith — Faith-based programming and faith integration are key components of the nursing curricula at Olivet.
• Specialization — The undergraduate curriculum offers a stand-alone 300-level course on gerontology and palliative care, as well as a 400-level course teaching critical care nursing content.
Olivet’s nursing program is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) and Illinois Department of Professional Regulation and meets the quality standards that produce graduates prepared to enter a global workforce. Coursework covers each essential of learning, as defined by the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN).
