When Olivet Nazarene University’s 2018-2019 theatre productions take the stage in Kresge Auditorium, audiences will be spellbound by the students’ gifts and talents. These productions provide not only entertainment, but also valuable learning opportunities.

“The Crucible” by Arthur Miller
Directed by Professor Jerry Cohagan
Five performances: Friday, Oct. 26, 7 p.m.; Saturday, Oct. 27, 2 p.m.; Friday, Nov. 2, 7 p.m.; Saturday, Nov. 3, 2 and 7 p.m.
“The Crucible” by Arthur Miller is a dramatized and partially fictionalized story of the Salem witch trials that took place in the Massachusetts Bay Colony during 1692-93. Appropriate for ages 12 and older.

“All My Sons” by Arthur Miller
Student production directed by Helen Berdebes
Three performances: Friday, Nov. 30, 7 p.m.; Saturday, Dec. 1, 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.
The Kellers, a post-war American family is in a tragic downfall of lies, greed, love and loss. The play demands that its audience examine their own social responsibilities to all the sons of American wars.

“The Pirates of Penzance,” musical by Gilbert and Sullivan
Presented by Department of Theatre and School of Music
Directed by Professor Jerry Cohagan
Four performances: Thursday, Feb. 28, 7 p.m.; Friday, March 1, 7 p.m.; Saturday, March 2, 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.
This hilarious farce follows young Frederic, an orphan mistakenly apprenticed to an ineffectual but raucous band of pirates.

“Twelve Angry Jurors” by Reginald Rose
Student production directed by Mackenzie Mehaffey
Four performances: Thursday, March 28, 7 p.m.; Friday, March 29, 7 p.m.; Saturday, March 30, 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.
A 19-year-old man has just stood trial for the fatal stabbing of his father. Now, 12 jurors are in the jury room to consider his fate. Each juror reveals his or her character during the deliberations. Tempers get short, arguments grow heated, and anger arises. Appropriate for ages 12 and older.
