Olivet Nazarene University recently expanded degree offerings within the School of Theology and Christian Ministry (STCM). In addition to the existing nine programs, the STCM is launching a Master of Arts degree in missional multiplication and a Master of Arts degree in ministerial studies.
Master of Arts in Missional Multiplication
The purpose of the Master of Arts in missional multiplication is to train students and practitioners within the field of Missional Theology and Multiplication.
Curriculum of the program will focus on understanding a Wesleyan theological framework for missional community engagement; identifying key components for creating cultures of missional leadership development; developing and articulating a theology of place; tracing the trajectory of the Missio Dei within both Church history and the arc of scripture; and enhancing the capacity for theologically informed adaptive leadership in changing cultures.
This program is great for ministers who are preparing to plant churches themselves or send out church planters from a host church, as well as those who seek to develop and lead a church culture of developing missional leaders.
Master of Arts in Ministerial Studies
The purpose of the Master of Arts in ministerial studies degree program is to provide a graduate level avenue for students seeking ordination as an elder in the Church of the Nazarene.
The program is geared to those who feel called to ministry but have not met all of the educational requirements for ordination in their undergraduate degree such as pre-service students preparing for ministry in the Church of the Nazarene or pastors in the Church of the Nazarene who are seeking to earn a master’s degree while completing the educational requirements for ordination. Candidates who have already earned an undergraduate degree within the STCM who could potentially earn up to 18 hours of advanced standing in this program.
As extensions of the STCM, both programs will utilize faculty including Dr. Mark Quanstrom ’77, Dr. Kevin Lowery, Dr. Simone Twibell, Dr. Teresa Garner ’87/’91 MA, Dr. Mark Frisius, Dr. Carlos Lonberger ’06/’14 MA/’19 Ed.D, Dr. Jeff Stark and Dr. Phil Stout, and will be offered in a distance-hybrid format with a combination of online, one-week intensive and weekly courses with a video conference option. Scholarships will be available for qualified individuals.
