Olivet Nazarene University is continuously committed to preparing students for life after graduation. This fall, in partnership with Career Services, the University will host its first-ever virtual career fairs for undergraduate students and alumni.
In 2008, the University hosted its first internship and job fair. Since then, it has expanded to include several targeted fairs throughout the year including the addition of Engineering Career Fair in 2015, and the Business Internship and Job Fair in 2016.
These events have successfully proven to be a place where students can come, connect and interact with future employers from various companies and organizations. Each fair offers tangible ways for participants to practice professional skills, articulate their interests and experiences to employers, and potentially find internships or full- or part-time jobs.
Director of Career Services, Poppy Miller, ’10 explains the importance of these events. “Career readiness is an important part of a student’s Olivet experience.” She continues, “Career fairs offer yet another layer to that preparation as students explore and start the transition to life after graduation.”
As the University moves to offer these fairs virtually, the geographical reach of included employers will be expanded. Olivet looks forward to the potential of offering its students more exposure to employers.
This fall, students and alumni will be able to attend two different virtual events:
The Engineering and Technology Virtual Job Fair: Friday, Sept. 25
The McGraw School of Business Virtual Job Fair: Friday, Oct. 16
Registration for these events can be found on Handshake. The University uses this networking system as a way to help students and alumni stay connected and find employment. Employers interested in registering for either event can also register through Handshake.
