Olivet Nazarene University recently announced its participation in the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program, a free IRS-sponsored tax filing assistance program to help qualified individuals file their income taxes.

VITA allows qualified individuals who earned $58,000 or less in 2021, are disabled, or have limited English speaking skills to participate in this program for FREE. Certified accounting students in Olivet’s McGraw School of Business will be available to meet with program participants Tuesday evenings during tax season in the Weber Leadership Center from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. Note: there will be no VITA meeting on March 8, due to Olivet’s spring break.

McGraw School of Business Accounting Club President, Kevin Gard says of the program, “As accounting students involved in the VITA program, we enjoy assisting people in our community with tax preparation and making an impact.”

Features and benefits of VITA include:
  1. Helping qualifying individuals file their income taxes for free.
  2. Removing the anxiety from filing tax returns by providing step-by-step assistance.
  3. Providing weekly meeting times for consistent filing help.

The VITA program will be available began on Feb. 8 and will run through March 29 at no cost. Appointments are not necessary.
