Olivet Nazarene University is extending a helping hand to the Bourbonnais, Bradley and Kankakee community through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program. Spearheaded by the McGraw School of Business, this initiative offers free tax preparation assistance to qualified individuals during the 2023 tax season.

What is VITA?

  • VITA is an IRS-sponsored tax filing assistance program designed to alleviate the stress of tax returns.
  • Certified accounting students at ONU serve as tax preparers, ensuring accurate and efficient filing.
  • Eligibility: Individuals with an income of $60,000 or less in 2023, as well as those with disabilities or limited English proficiency.

How Does It Work?

  • When: Every Tuesday in February and March, from 4:30-6:30 p.m., in Weber room 307.
  • Participants need not make appointments; walk-ins are welcome.
  • Bring essential documents:
    • Tax Information: Forms W-2, 1099, 1098, 1095.
    • Picture ID: Valid driver’s license for you and your spouse (copies or photos accepted).
    • Social Security Cards or ITIN Letters: Required for all persons on your tax returns.
