Olivet Nazarene University celebrated a successful fundraising milestone during Homecoming Weekend with a striking visual display: nearly 6,000 purple and gold flags blanketing the Hawkins Centennial Chapel lawn. Purple flags spelling “ONU” each bore a current student’s name, while over 3,000 gold flags represented donors who contributed to the university’s Strength & Hope Campaign.
“We were once again overwhelmed by the response and generosity of our supporters,” said Erika Moeschke, Senior Director of Alumni Relations and University Advancement. “To see the visual representation of their gifts through these flags and watch the responses of both students and alumni was thrilling.”
The display, unveiled after the Homecoming Chapel service on Friday, October 25, symbolized the campaign’s achievement of its “A Gift for Every Student” goal. Donors contributed to support athletics, student scholarships, academics and the arts.
There’s still time to join the celebration – alumni and friends are welcome to participate in remaining Homecoming & Family Weekend events, and those interested in supporting ONU students can make a gift to the Strength & Hope Campaign at olivet.edu/giving/strength-and-hope-campaign.
