Counseling Services

Brianna Koch completed her undergrad Psychology program at University of Phoenix after two years at Kankakee Community College. She then began her Masters of Professional Counseling degree at Olivet Nazarene University and graduated in May of 2014. Brianna completed her internship year at ONU’s Counseling and Health Services in 2013 and joined the team as a staff therapist in 2014, after graduating from her Master’s program. After working as a part-time staff therapist for six years, Brianna took a position in Counseling and Health Services as the Training Director, she remained in this position for two years before accepting her current position as the Director of Counseling Services. Brianna feels she has found a home working at ONU because she enjoys working with the college aged population. She feels this age is one where motivation is high and excitement for the future is strong, leading to clients who are willing to do the work on themselves to feel better and prepared for what is to come in their lives. Brianna has a strong love for counseling. She has known since early teenage years that this is the field she wanted to be in. Brianna feels that her strongest attribute that helps her in her career is her ability to empathize with her clients. Brianna believes in a holistic approach to therapy and encourages her clients to lead the way through their therapy experience.

Brianna is the proud wife to her husband, Matthew and the mother to five amazing kids. She is happiest when with her family and some of their favorite things to do together include vacationing, camping, or attending a sporting event. Several years ago, they purchased their dream home – a 100+-year-old farm house out in the country with room for farm animals, and currently have lots of chickens, ducks, and two pigs, as well as a dog and cats! Brianna’s most treasured hobbies include taking back road adventures anywhere and reading!
