Professor Rice joined Olivet’s full-time faculty in 2018 as program director for the cybersecurity defense concentration. In this leadership role, he researched, designed, tested and launched this area of study. His motivation is the great need for trained professionals with integrity in the field of cybersecurity. As a professor, he teaches courses in cybersecurity, networking and information technology.

Known as a “pracademic,” Professor Rice is also worked as network and telecommunications engineer in Olivet’s Office of Information Technology for almost 18 years. He specialized in information security, physical security and LAN/WLAN management, as well as handling project management and collaborative projects with other University staff. He implementing the video surveillance system and high availability internet connectivity on campus.

Professor Rice received his doctorate in Computer Science and concentrated in Cybersecurity and Information assurance. He graduated in 2021 from Colorado Technical University. His professional experience also included co-owner of a computer consulting business, software test engineer for Tellabs Operations Inc. and software support technician for Applied Systems. He has taught courses for Olivet’s Department of Computer Science, McGraw School of Business, and School of Graduate and Continuing Studies.
