Dr. Lyle has taught in the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science since 2015. He has taught a variety of courses including courses in the calculus sequence, discrete mathematics, theory of computation, and liberal arts mathematics. His areas of interest is in graphic theory and networks, particularly in questions about extremal graph theory, domination in graphs and graph algorithms, and research in these areas has led to a number of publications.
Before coming to Olivet, he served as an associate professor at the University of Southern Mississippi, where he learned to love red beans and rice.
He and his wife, Tracy, have four children, Emily, Alex, Austin and Eli. They enjoy playing games as a family and cheering on the Clemson Tigers (the other tigers) in college football.
