Lance Kilpatrick

In 2011, Dr. Kilpatrick began his first assignment in higher education when he joined Olivet’s full-time faculty. In 2018, he became dean of the School of Education. He is responsible for overseeing the School’s undergraduate academic programs, as well as the work of its faculty members.

In addition to his administrative responsibilities, he is the edTPA coordinator and the Partnership for Educator Preparation (PEP) director. He also teaches Seminar I (introduction to teaching) and Middle School Methods.

He is the author of “The Experiences of University Faculty Expected to Implement edTPA Within a Teacher Preparation Program,” his doctoral dissertation.

Dr. Kilpatrick came to Olivet from San Jose, California, where he taught middle school (grades 6-8) at Valley Christian Junior High and coached high school football, basketball and volleyball at Valley Christian High School. He received the school’s Teacher of the Year award in 2007 and 2009, and the Leadership Award in 2010. He also served as a youth pastor at Cambrian Park Church of the Nazarene.

While a student at ONU, he served as the captain of the Tiger varsity football team during the 2001 season and was named to “Who’s Who Among College and University Students 2001-2002.” Currently, he serves as the faculty athletic representative for the Tigers.

An outdoorsman at heart, he has great memories of backpacking and fishing in Yosemite and Sequoia National Forest, and canoeing on the Sacramento River in California. Also a sports enthusiast, he enjoys disc golfing, basketball, football, baseball and ice hockey.

He and his wife, Amy, have a son, Owen, and two daughters, Callie and Lanae. Playing with his children is the most fun leisure activity of all.
