Dr. Troendle joined Olivet Nazarene University in the biology department in the fall of 2019. Dr. Troendle has a Ph.D. in Genetics from the University of Georgia and a master’s degree in Wildlife and Fisheries Science from Texas A&M University. His research focuses on the evolution of invasiveness in freshwater fishes in the family Poeciliidae.
At ONU, Dr. Troendle straddles the line between biology and zoology majors, teaching courses in biology, genetics, animal behavior, vertebrae natural history and comparative anatomy. One of his main focuses is helping students to integrate the ideas of biology and faith in real, meaningful ways – encouraging conversation on diverse topics both in and out of the classroom.
Dr. Troendle lives in St. Anne with his wife, Stephanie, and their three children, Balian, Aidan and Anneliese, as well as their two dogs, eleven chickens and a room full of reptiles and amphibians.
