Dr. Lew joined Olivet’s full-time faculty in 2016. He teaches courses in vibration, computer-aided engineering (CAE), engineering economics, heat transfer, biomechanics and biomedical engineering. His areas of professional expertise include brain source imaging, electroencephalography, magnetoencephalography, realistic human head conductor modeling, biosensor and vibration.

Before joining Olivet’s faculty, Dr. Lew worked as an engineer for LG Industrial System, Nada Sound & Vibration and M-Biotech. He holds three U.S. patents in the field of biomedical engineering. He also worked as a post-doctorate research fellow in Massachusetts General Hospital (MEG Core Lab). As a research associate in Boston Children’s Hospital (BabyMEG Lab), he was concurrently affiliated with Harvard Medical School as an instructor.

He published a dozen of peer-reviewed research articles to professional journals in the field of his expertise. he is a recipient of Hippenhammer Faculty Scholarship Grant and Samual A. Mayhugh Award for Scholarly Excellency.

When he’s not in the classroom or lab, you may find him playing tennis, bicycling, reading, doing yard work or enjoying time with his children. He and his wife, Sookhyun Byun, are the parents of a daughter, Michelle, and a son, Chris. They are active members of Naperville Onnuri Church, where he serves as a missions team leader.
