Simone Twibell

Dr. Twibell serves as associate professor of intercultural studies. She served as a pastor in Illinois and Kentucky for ten years and as a volunteer short-term missionary in Central America for three years prior to her current assignment at Olivet.

Dr. Twibell is the author of two books, Intimacy with God: an Invitation to Prayer (2023) and Boundary-Breaking Mission: the Gospel in a Diverse and Fragmented World (2023). She has also authored several book chapters and academic articles and was selected as a Waybright Scholar to complete her Ph.D. studies in Intercultural Studies at Trinity International University.

She speaks Spanish, Portuguese, and Italian and has traveled throughout Central America, South America, Asia, and Africa, leading mission trips and serving as an interpreter in Global Theology conferences. She has earned several honors and awards, including the Kenneth Kentzer Memorial Award for Academic Excellence and Christian Character (2019) and the Samuel L. Mayhugh Award for Scholarly Excellence (2024).

She was also the recipient of the 2006 Watson Ambassador Award and named athlete of the year after qualifying to run the marathon at the NAIA national championship that same year. She has won duathlons and triathlons and continues to race in her spare time. But more than anything, she enjoys spending time with her two children, Lucas and Sofia.
