Susan Enfield

Professor Enfield joined Olivet’s full-time faculty in 2014. She directs the RN to BSN program, which is designed for students who already have an associate’s degree in nursing and their nursing license. She also teaches courses in community and global health.

Before joining Olivet’s faculty, she had a career as a school nurse for more than 12 years in the Bourbonnais (Illinois) Elementary School District. She was also an adjunct professor and a clinical site host for Olivet’s nursing students, providing them with the opportunity to observe school nursing firsthand.

Prior to her school nurse career, Professor Enfield was the nurse manager in a nephrology physicians practice in Kankakee for two years.

Her work as a nurse at Kankakee’s Riverside Medical Center spanned eight years. She began on medical-oncology and medical-surgical floors, advancing to the charge nurse position. She handled numerous on-the-floor procedures, including bone marrow biopsies, central line insertions and chest tube insertions. One of her greatest joys was working with patients, both pre- and post-operative.

She is a member of the Illinois Association of School Nursing and the National Association of School Nursing.

At Kankakee First Church of the Nazarene, Professor Enfield serves on the music ministry team as a choir member and praise band member. In her leisure time, she enjoys scrapbooking, reading, playing games with her family and cooking (especially trying new recipes).

She and her husband, Jeff, were married in 1991. They are the parents of three children: Caleb, an IT specialist major at Capella University; Katie, a psychology major at Olivet; and Cory, a high school student.
