Dr. Phipps became the director of Olivet’s Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) track in 2015, and in 2017, she became the director of the MSN/FNP Program. She previously served as an adjunct faculty member for Rush University Medical Center and University of Illinois at Chicago’s FNP students and taught in a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Program. Her professional career includes experiences in field of nursing: as an RN in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU); as a Family Nurse Practitioner in the areas of primary care and retail-health clinics; and managing FNPs. She completed her doctoral studies at Olivet. Her dissertation is titled, “Intimate Partner Violence in Retail-Health Clinics: The Views of the Family Nurse Practitioners.” Dr. Phipps is passionate about helping victims of intimate partner violence.

“There’s never a dull moment in teaching! I love partnering with students to figure out what naturally works well for them to comprehend challenging concepts. Knowing that I have a chance to influence students’ educational experiences and career goals is meaningful to me.”

She and her husband got married in Kauai, Hawaii. Her brother, who is a pastor, performed the ceremony. Dr. Phipps and her husband have a daughter. In her leisure time, she enjoys reading, exercising, cooking, scrapbooking and spending time with her family and friends. And in case you were wondering, if Dr. Phipps was not a nurse, she would be a U.S. Marshall!

A Bible verses that guides her life is from 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18, “Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4: 6-7, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
