Kelly Brown

Joining the faculty in 2006, Dr. Brown teaches both undergraduate and graduate courses at Olivet.

She is also involved with the Illinois State Board of Education, where she works with the assessment divisions of the science and mathematics departments. Her duties with ISBE include: writing, editing select items, setting standards and creating rubrics for the Illinois State Assessment Test.

After receiving her bachelor’s degree, she gained her educational experience in the Homewood, Ill., school system. She began by teaching in a self-contained fourth grade classroom and later taught several levels of eighth grade mathematics.

After more than a decade in the public school system, Dr. Brown conducted a study exploring the socioeconomic academic achievement gap of low-income junior high students.
