“Chapel is one of the key elements of our shared life together,” said Olivet Nazarene University President John C. Bowling in his message for the first chapel of the 2017–2018 academic year. “God will speak to you in chapel if you will listen.”
Spiritual development for students, faculty and staff is an important part of the Olivet experience. Chaplain Mark Holcomb ’81 takes leadership for providing many of the elements to make that possible. Each year, he invites top Christian speakers and preachers to present messages during chapel services. And each year, God challenges and inspires all who come to listen.

Tony Kriz — author, speaker and neighborhood theologian — was the guest speaker for the Sept. 6 and 7 chapel services. Sitting on the edge of the stage the second day, he addressed the students directly, saying: “Young people, your job is to change the world. To believe in a better world. Fall in love with the work of God.”
Dr. J. K. Warrick, pastor and a general superintendent emeritus in the Church of the Nazarene, is the speaker for the 2017 Fall Revival. Olivet and College Church of the Nazarene University Avenue are co-sponsoring this series of five worship services, Sept. 17 to 20.

- Kristin and Danny ’97 Adams, viral sensations and entertainers
- Jerry Molnar, 9/11 survivor
- Nicole Bromley and Mary O’Brien, human trafficking advocates
- Dr. Craig Bishop ’08 M.O.L./’13 Ed.D., criminal justice professor, and Dr. Charles Perabeau ’94, Behavioral Sciences professor
When the Betty and Kenneth Hawkins Centennial Chapel and the Crawford Auditorium were constructed and dedicated in 2010, the primary focus was on bringing the Olivet community together in one place for worship and growth. Twice each week, from August through May, chapel gatherings add significant meaning to campus life. In that setting, many have accepted Christ and committed or recommitted to serve Him.
