Wanting to honor the distinguished career of University President Dr. John C. Bowling, Illinois state representative Lindsay Parkhurst presented him with a resolution from the Illinois House of Representatives on Wednesday, November 18.
The short presentation ceremony was held in the President’s Board Room in the Burke Administration building on the campus of Olivet Nazarene University. Representative Parkhurst, Dr. Bowling, members of Olivet’s administrative team and a few other staff members were in attendance.
House Resolution 661, which was unanimously approved by the House of Representatives, celebrates the accomplishments of Dr. Bowling during his 30 years as the president of Olivet and as a leader in the community. In addition to various campus developments and improvements over the years, Dr. Bowling was integral in partnering the University with the Chicago Bears to host the team’s summer camp for 18 years; he has provided strong support for United Way of Kankakee County; and he has faithfully served the surrounding community on a number of boards.
“Dr. Bowling has done so much for Olivet Nazarene University and opening the university in our community has enriched us with musicals, shows, and youth sports camps,” Parkhurst said. “Thank you Dr. Bowling and we all wish you well in your retirement and the new journey it leads to.”
