BOURBONNAIS, Ill. – After another incredible season leading the Olivet Nazarene University men’s basketball team that culminated in the NAIA national tournament, Head Coach Nick Birkey has earned the Illinois Basketball Coaches’ Association (IBCA) Coach of the Year Award. This marks the sixth consecutive year that Birkey has earned the award.
Under Birkey, the Tigers have amassed a 144-38 record during his six-year tenure. He coached Tyler Schmidt to back-to-back CCAC Player of the Year awards and consecutive second-team NAIA All-American selections.
The Tigers finished the season with an impressive 22-9 overall record and a 15-5 mark in the conference.
