Career outcomes for Olivet Nazarene University’s Class of 2019 – undergraduates receiving traditional bachelor’s degrees – are again exceeding the national average of career outcomes reported by other universities and colleges. Based on information for 97% of Olivet graduates in the annual First Destination Survey, 96% of Olivet graduates were employed (full-time or part-time), serving in the military or missions, or in graduate school within six months of crossing the stage.
Colleges and universities around the country use the First Destination Survey, outlined and maintained by the National Association for Colleges and Employers, to assess and track where graduates land within six months post-graduation. Following the trend of the past few years, Olivet’s rate has risen again and the 2019 results exceed the career outcomes rate for Olivet’s Class of 2018.
Several of the University’s most popular majors —communication, zoology, criminal justice, pastoral ministry and elementary education — report 100% career outcomes rates.
Also reporting high outcomes were the Department of Nursing with 96.3% career outcomes rate; Walker School of Engineering and Technology with 94.4%; McGraw School of Business with 97.9%; Department of Exercise and Sports Science with 97.1%; Department of Behavioral Sciences with 91.4%; and the Department of Art and Digital Media with 90%.
“These outcomes underscore the quality and determination of Olivet graduates as they begin the next chapter of their lives,” says Poppy Miller ’09, director of the Office of Career Services. “Olivet’s mission to prepare students for lives of service to God and to humanity is carried out year after year as our graduates enter into a vast scope of work, education, and service.”
