When the University of Michigan men’s basketball team plays in the NCAA tournament’s Final Four on Saturday, March 31, 2018, they will rely on Assistant Coach Luke Yaklich and the defensive education he has provided the team.
Journalist Jeff Eisenberg of Yahoo! Sports quotes University of Michigan Head Coach John Beilein during last summer’s interview process: “’I don’t care what you know if you can’t teach it,’ Beilein told Yaklich. ‘I want to hear your voice. I want to know who you are as a teacher.’”
An experienced educator, Luke Yaklich holds two graduate degrees from Olivet: a Master of Education in Curriculum Instruction (2004) and a Master of Education in School Leadership (2009). With his professional assistance, Michigan has risen to its highest defensive ranking in John Beilein’s tenure as head coach.
