Olivet Nazarene University men’s track and field team captured the 2018 Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Indoor Championship. The Tigers entered the second day of the two-day competition sitting in second place, but remained confident in their abilities and determined to win. Digging deep, Olivet came away with the hardware — and a 13-point lead over second place University of St. Francis and a 55-point lead over third place St. Ambrose University.
Andrew Franklin — a junior engineering major — earned the Male Field Athlete of the Meet honors for his performances in the weight throw (first place) and the shot put (second place).
Also excelling in their events were:
- Bryce Vollrath, shot put. first place
- 4×800 relay (Tyler Banks, John Munyan, Aaron Swedberg, Johnny Dickson), first place
- Matt Meehan, 800m run. first place
- Wesley Meyer, 1 mile, first place
- 4x400m relay (Justin Wolz, Steven Linton, Guy Maisonneuve, Brady Williams), first place
- Brenten Couch, heptathlon. first place
Olivet’s Head Coach Mike McDowell brought home the Coach of the Year honor.
Qualifying Tigers now head to the 2018 NAIA Indoor Track and Field National Championships in Pittsburg, Kansas. The three-day championship event will run from March 1–3.
