Once again, Olivet Nazarene University is reporting record enrollment in the innovative Early Scholar Program for high school students.
With a mission to empower high school students to reach their full academic potential, the Early Scholar Program was designed specifically for high school juniors and seniors from public, private, and homeschool backgrounds, offering an affordable opportunity to earn college credits while enrolled in high school.
“Our Fall 2024 group of Early Scholars includes juniors and seniors from high schools all over the globe, including one young student from Italy,” said Tiffany Holohan, program director.
Students choose from over 80 courses, including subjects like Cybersecurity, Calculus, Psychology, Spanish, Music, Literature, Management, Art, and Physics. These courses are available both on-campus and online, providing flexibility to fit into any student’s schedule. By enrolling in these courses, students not only get a head start on their college education but also experience the rigor and excitement of university-level learning.
“One of the standout features of the Early Scholar Program is the discounted, competitive course rate, making higher education more accessible and affordable for families,” said Luke Franklin, Director of Undergraduate Enrollment. “It’s an excellent way for students to save on college costs while still receiving high-quality education from Olivet’s esteemed faculty.”
While the courses are fully-accredited and transferable, more than 65% of the students who enrolled in Early Scholars during the 2023-24 academic year chose to pursue their baccalaureate degrees at Olivet as traditional on-campus students.
Mark Reddy, Olivet Nazarene University’s Vice President for Enrollment, put it this way: “Many of these high school students fully embrace the opportunity to experience the ‘Olivet difference’ early– almost as a preview of what’s to come in their college years. When it comes time to make their college choice, ONU just makes sense. And we are grateful to have them!”
Students in the Early Scholar Program join a vibrant community of scholars, engaging with current undergraduate students and participating in a dynamic learning environment. This interaction helps high school students develop essential skills such as critical thinking, time management, and effective communication, which are crucial for success in college and beyond.
Olivet Nazarene University is committed to supporting each student’s academic journey. Our dedicated team works closely with students to select courses that align with their interests and career goals, ensuring a personalized and enriching educational experience.
