April 27, 2018, turned out to be a special day for the Olivet Nazarene University women’s golf team. The Tigers clinched the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Championship and a berth in the NAIA National Championships. The team is led by Head Coach Bill Johnson and Assistant Coach Bill Golyshko.
This is the Tigers’ third CCAC Championship title and second berth to the NAIA Championships. The team will now compete in the 24th Annual NAIA Women’s Golf National Championships at PGA National in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, May 22–25, 2018.
At the CCAC conference tournament in Homewood, Illinois, Olivet held on for the win on day two, entering with a nine-stroke cushion after the first 18 holes. Two Tigers — Stephanie Eby, a junior accounting major, and Mackenzie Mehaffey, a junior multimedia communications major — led the way to the title. Each finished tied for second overall, shooting 78s on day one, the third-best overall score in the tournament.

Mackenzie Mehaffey — T-2nd, 160 (78-82, +20)
Stephanie Eby — T-2nd, 160 (78-82, +20)
Makenzie Fisk, a sophomore business administration major — T-13th, 173 (87-86, +33)
Jessica Ackman, a junior nursing major — T-13th, 173 (84-89, +33)
Julie Hogan, a senior corporate communications major — T-24th, 184 (91-93, +44)
In this tournament, Olivet placed first with 666 (327-339, +106), followed by Cardinal Stritch University (Wisconsin) with 676 (+116) and University of St. Francis (Illinois) with 688 (+128). Other teams competing were from Calumet College of St. Joseph (Indiana), Governors State University (Illinois), Holy Cross College (Indiana), Indiana University South Bend, Judson University (Illinois), Robert Morris University-Illinois, Saint Xavier University (Illinois), St. Ambrose University (Iowa) and Trinity Christian College (Illinois).
