Achieving the top 2022 National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) pass rate for Illinois is just one of the distinctives for Olivet Nazarene University’s nursing programs. This landmark pass rate also establishes ONU as number 1 of all baccalaureate and masters entry programs and number 4 of all registered nurse programs in Illinois.
For the 2022 NCLEX, ONU’s Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) graduates achieved a 97.2% pass rate. Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (ABSN) graduates achieved a 100% pass rate. The national pass rate for 2022 was 80%, and the state pass rate was 77%.
The National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN) develops the NCLEX exam to test the competency of nursing school graduates in the U.S. and Canada. The passing standards reflect the amount of nursing ability currently required to practice competently at the entry level.
Dr. Tiffany Greer, associate dean for ONU’s School of Nursing (undergraduate) and Graduate and Continuing Studies nursing programs, notes that these BSN students took most of their nursing courses during the 2020 and 2021 pandemic years. ABSN students took their first three semesters during 2021 when circumstances were still not ideal in the world, and especially in healthcare.
“We celebrate our amazing nursing students,” Dr. Greer says. “And we congratulate our program directors — Joella Tabaka, Cathy Dillinger and Nancy Pyle — plus our faculty and staff. Everyone’s hard work during a very rough few years has definitely paid off!”
