BOURBONNAIS, IL. – Jake Ostema, who served as the Olivet Nazarene University women’s volleyball interim head coach for the entirety of the 2023 season, will take on the full-time head coach position for the program, effective immediately. ONU Acting Athletic Director Justin Glenn made the announcement to the team in a meeting last week.

“I am very grateful to be able to continue what this team was able to start this year and begin a new chapter for this program,” said Ostema. “I am very blessed that God gave me this opportunity to stay involved in the sport I grew up playing and that He gave me a great team to take over.”

Behind Ostema, the 2023 ONU women’s volleyball team posted a 12-15 overall record and went 8-6 in Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) league play, good for the fourth best record in the conference.

The team also garnered three all-CCAC selections, including first-team member Halle Nicholas, and earned a trip to the CCAC Tournament Semifinals.

“We are thrilled to officially welcome Jake to the team at ONU,” said Glenn. “Throughout this past season, he proved his ability to successfully lead the program on and off the court, and we are excited to see what the team can continue to accomplish under his guidance.”

A 2022 graduate of perennial CCAC-contender Trinity Christian College, Ostema was a four-time all-CCAC selection for the Trolls while earning his bachelor’s degree in music production and communication. He will be obtaining his Master’s in Business Administration from Olivet Nazarene University in summer 2024.
