Many Christians have led a Bible study. Raechel Myers ’05, Olivet alumna and founder of the popular blog She Reads Truth, has the distinct privilege of leading Bible studies for millions by providing rich resources to women and men around the world.

At Olivet Nazarene University, Raechel spoke in front of 2,500 students during a chapel service. She began by reading Romans 12, which set a reflective tone. “I appeal to you, therefore, brothers and sisters, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.”

Raechel took the stage with a sense of familiarity and warmth, being an alumna of Olivet herself. She opened up about the inception of She Reads Truth, a community that recently celebrated the milestone of distributing one million Bibles to women worldwide. “She’s a mom to Ali and Hazel, founder of She Reads Truth…Can we give a round of applause to that?” the host introduced, highlighting her impactful work.

Throughout her talk, Raechel emphasized the transformative power of scripture in her life, “If it is true that Christ has no body but ours, may we be compelled by your love to no longer live for ourselves,” she prayed with the audience, showcasing her commitment to living a life led by Christ’s teachings and example.

Discussing her path to founding She Reads Truth, Raechel shared how her personal call to deepen her engagement with the Bible became a broader mission.

“There’s nothing we can do to make the word of God more important, more relevant, more true, more beautiful. It’s already all of those things apart from us. What we do at She Reads Truth is invite people to it.”

Her words reflected a deep respect and love for the scriptures, emphasizing that their role is to facilitate access and understanding rather than to enhance the already perfect Word of God. She also candidly discussed the challenges and realities of leading a faith-based organization, which she described as a direct line from the work she does to the work God is doing in the world.

“It’s interesting because rather than being an athlete or an artist or anything like that, it’s a pretty straight line that you can draw from the work that we do at She Reads Truth to the work that God is doing in the world,” Raechel explained.
