Illinois State Legislators visited Olivet Nazarene University on November 17th, leaving an impactful mark on students and faculty alike. Senator Patrick Joyce, Representative Bill Hauter, and Representative Jackie Haas participated in a discussion panel, offering invaluable industry insights to eager Olivet students.
The event drew students from several academic disciplines. The Departments of Political Science, Entrepreneurship, and the Center of Law and Culture welcomed the legislators, fostering an atmosphere of engagement and learning.
Not only did the legislators connect with students, but they also held discussions with President Gregg Chenoweth and members of the President’s Cabinet. This session served as an opportunity to update the distinguished guests on Olivet’s extended impact on the local and state communities.
During their visit, the Senator and Representatives met with members of the business faculty to hear about upcoming additions to the Entrepreneurship program.
Dr. Lance Kilpatrick, Associate Dean of the School of Education, also presented to the legislators. Dr. Kilpatrick shared the substantial impact of the ECACE grant, funds provided by the Illinois Student Assistance Commission to aid Olivet students pursuing careers in Early Childhood Education.
The visit benefited all involved, furthering the understanding of the shared commitment of the Illinois government and the university to education, innovation, and community development.
