Students from churches across Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, and Wisconsin will converge on Olivet’s campus May 16-18 for Celebrate Life, a dynamic teen talent competition. Offering a diverse range of competitions including sports, music, communication, quizzing and art, participants will have the opportunity to showcase their skills. While on campus, students will hear from the inspiration of Carly Bartlett, a renowned podcaster, professor and preacher from Nampa, Idaho. Amid engaging worship sessions, spirited competition and hours of fellowship, students have the opportunity to deepen their faith, develop their talents, and create friendships.
The Olivet community will provide a variety of supplementary activities to help the students experience life at Olivet. In between competitions, students can interact with animals from the Biology department, learn a Spanish dance with the Modern Languages faculty, tackle fitness challenges with the ROTC department, embark on a campus-wide Math Department scavenger hunt, take in a show at the planetarium and many other activities. Professors from the Schools of Art, Music, Theater, English and Communication will be judging various events, and Admissions Counselors will interact with students throughout the weekend and answer questions about Olivet.
Over 1,400 participants are expected from more than 160 churches across the eleven Nazarene districts on the Olivet field. Over the course of the weekend, each participant’s events will earn points for their district towards the grand trophy. Ultimately, one district will emerge triumphant, claiming the title of champion at the weekend’s conclusion.
Olivet’s Director of Church Relations, Anne Whalen, says, “We are so grateful to offer this opportunity to our Nazarene teens, providing them with a chance to experience the Olivet community! This event is a great avenue for us to get acquainted with students, and for students to get to know Olivet.”
