Military Science

Mr. Hesser enlisted into the Army National Guard on the 21st of January 1978 as a senior in high school.  During his 27 plus years of service he served in a wide variety of duty positions, Track and Wheel Vehicle Mechanic (63Y), Scout Squad Leader (19D), Legal Specialist (71D), Human Resources NCO (74D), Infantry Platoon Sergeant (11B), Food Service Sergeant (94B) and Operations Sergeant Major (11Z). During his tenure he served overseas, with tours in Honduras, Panama, and Saudi Arabia.

To his credit Mr. Hesser has completed 101 semester hours of college and is working towards completing the requirements for his bachelor degree.  His military schooling includes the Advanced Non-Commissioned Officer Course, Basic Non-Commissioned Officer Course and the Primary Leadership Course.  Besides his advanced individual training as a Track Vehicle Mechanic, he also completed the Legal Specialist Course, the HR NCO Course and the Infantry Course.  He has also completed courses in Suicide Prevention, Hazard Material Handling and Personnel Management Techniques.

His many military awards include the Army Commendation Medal with 4 Oak Leaf Clusters, the Army Achievement Medal with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters, The Army Good Conduct Medal with 2 Silver Knots, the National Defense Service Medal with a Bronze Star, the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Humanitarian Service Medal with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters, the Armed Forces Reserve Medal with a Bronze Hour Glass, and 2 M devices, the Non-Commissioned Officers Professional Development Ribbon with the numeral 3,  the Army Service Ribbon and the Overseas Training Ribbon with the numeral 2.

Mr. Hesser is married to Mollyann Hesser and resides in Herscher, Illinois.   Mr. Hesser also serves as the Committee Chairman for both the Girl’s BSA Troop 300 and the Boy’s BSA Troop 300 in Kankakee, Illinois.  He is a lifetime member of VFW, a Paid for Life member of the American Legion and a 3rd Degree Knight in Knights of Columbus Blessed Trinity Council 15032.
