A scholarship/grant is a form of financial assistance that does not need to be repaid. Scholarships/grants are awarded to those who meet certain criteria, such as intended area of study, family history, geographical location, etc.

2024-2025 Types of Scholarships

Academic Scholarship

Type of aid: Scholarship
Award amounts: $17,500-$26,000
Eligibility requirements: Undergraduate on-ground Bourbonnais attendance. Must meet BOTH minimum GPA and test score requirements on academic performance matrix.
Renewal requirements: Available for up to eight semesters. Students must be enrolled full-time (at least 12 credit hours fall and spring semesters) and must achieve a 3.0 minimum cumulative GPA for scholarships. Academic Scholarships are not available for summer sessions.
EFC eligibility range: Open
Enrollment requirements: Full-time enrollment each fall and spring semester
Grade-level eligibility: Undergraduate
Special rules: Student must maintain satisfactory academic progress. Cannot be stacked with additional academic support.

Academic Grant

Type of aid: Grant
Award amounts: $11,000-$19,000
Eligibility requirements: Undergraduate on-ground Bourbonnais attendance. Must meet BOTH minimum GPA and test score requirements on academic performance matrix.

Visit Grant

Type of aid: Grant
Award amount: $1,000
Eligibility requirement: Undergraduate on-ground Bourbonnais attendance. Secured by completing an official campus visit.
Renewal requirements: First year only

Enrollment requirements: Full-time enrollment for fall 2024 and spring 2025
Grade-level eligibility: Undergraduate

Transfer Academic Scholarship

Type of aid: Scholarship
Award amounts: $17,000-$20,500
Eligibility requirements: Undergraduate on-ground Bourbonnais attendance. Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 and have completed at least 16 college-level credit hours at the point of acceptance to Olivet.
Renewal requirements: Students must be enrolled full-time (at least 12 credit hours fall and spring semesters) and must achieve a 3.0 minimum cumulative GPA. These credits must be completed by the end of spring semester each year. Transfer Scholarships and other academic scholarships are not available for summer sessions, and credits earned and GPA achieved in summer sessions do not count toward eligibility requirements until the following fall or spring calculations. If lost, the scholarship may be reinstated if eligibility requirements are met.

Transfer Academic Grant

Award amounts: $15,500-$16,500
Eligibility requirements: Undergraduate on-ground Bourbonnais attendance. Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 and have at least 16 completed college-level credit hours at the point of acceptance to Olivet.
Renewal requirements: Students must be enrolled full-time (at least 12 credit hours fall and spring semesters) and must achieve a 2.0 minimum cumulative GPA. These credits must be completed by the end of spring semester each year. Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship for Transfer Students

Type of aid: Scholarship
Award amount: $2,000
Filing deadline: None
Application process: Submit copy of certificate or letter confirming status as a Phi Theta Kappa member.
Eligibility requirements: Undergraduate on-ground Bourbonnais attendance. Member of Phi Theta Kappa
EFC eligibility range: Open
Enrollment requirements: Full-time
Grade-level eligibility: Undergraduate
Special rules: Renewable with a 3.0 cumulative Olivet GPA. Available for eight semesters. Award can be added to Transfer Academic Scholarship.

Army ROTC

Type of aid: Scholarship
Award amounts and general information: Army ROTC can offer two-, three-, and four-year scholarships that pay full tuition and mandatory fees to qualified students. Students can apply at any time from their junior year in high school to the second semester of their sophomore year in college. All scholarship students also earn $300-$500 monthly stipend while in school, and an annual allowance of $1,200 for books and miscellaneous fees. In addition, qualified non-scholarship cadets may be eligible for a room and board reduction if participating in ROTC. Students should contact the military science department and ONU’s Office of Student Financial Services to discuss complete benefit packages.

Veteran Benefits/Yellow Ribbon Program

Type of aid: Scholarship
General information: To assist students who qualify for benefits from the Veteran’s Administration, Olivet has a counselor in the Office of Student Financial Services who specializes in these programs. In addition, ONU is part of the federal Yellow Ribbon Program, which helps to fund the tuition for veterans in certain circumstances. The VA counselor can help determine eligibility. Nazarene Student Advantage Scholarship

Type of aid: Scholarship
Award amount: Up to $2,000
Eligibility requirements: The applicant must provide supporting documentation of regular attendance within the Nazarene Church. Undergraduate on-ground Bourbonnais attendance.
Renewal requirements: None
EFC eligibility range: Open
Enrollment requirements: At least 12 hours each semester
Grade-level eligibility: Undergraduate
Costs this aid can cover: Tuition and fees

Nazarene Pastor/Nazarene Missionary Scholarship

Type of aid: Scholarship
Award amounts: 20% of Tuition
Eligibility requirements: The applicant must provide to Olivet’s Church Relations Office supporting documentation of parent’s full-time service. Undergraduate on-ground Bourbonnais attendance
Renewal requirements: Parent must maintain full-time service during the duration of the student’s time at Olivet.

Enrollment requirements: At least 12 hours each semester
Grade-level eligibility: Undergraduate

Non-Nazarene Pastor/Non-Nazarene Missionary Scholarship

Type of aid: Scholarship
Award amount: $3,500
Eligibility requirements: The applicant must provide to Olivet’s Church Relations Office supporting documentation of parent’s full-time service. Undergraduate on-ground Bourbonnais attendance.

Merit Scholarships: Music, Athletic, Art, Theater, ONU Foundation

A variety of athletic scholarships are awarded in multiple sports each year, based upon athletic skill and demonstrated ability. The coaches oversee the awarding of these funds for their respective sports. Contact your counselor who will connect you with the appropriate person from the ONU Department of Athletics regarding specific awards.

A variety of music, art and theater scholarships are awarded annually, based upon excellence in these respective disciplines and other criteria. The individual departments determine the unique criteria for scholarships awarded. Contact your counselor who will connect you with the appropriate person in the Department of Music, Department of Art and Digital Media, or Department of Communication regarding specific awards.
