Dr. Toni Pauls has spent the majority of her career in Christian Higher Education because she believes that we are educating the whole person and that faith cannot be separated from how we learn. Because she completed all of her education as an adult student, she understands the challenges that adult students face. Between jobs, families, community engagement and life’s unexpected twists and turns, adult students need a doctorate program that is accessible and doable. In fact, Dr. Pauls completed her own doctorate, mostly online, which gives her a greater understanding of how to write curriculum in a meaningful way that is also doable for the candidate.
Dr. Pauls has a BA in Business from Fresno Pacific University; a Master’s in Organizational Behavior from Alliant University; and, a Ph.D. in Organizational Leadership from Regent University. She has served at various institutions in several administrative rolls. She has been a Vice President of Adult and Graduate Studies; A Chief Operations Office; and, an Associate VP of Academics just to name a few. She also has extensive teaching experience both online and on ground in the areas of Business, Leadership, Management and more.
While her credentials speak for themselves, it is her passion and heart behind her work that are most notable. Dr. Pauls believes in the power of education to change lives and through those changed lives, to change the world. Her favorite scripture verse is Ephesians 2:10 and says, “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”
For her, that work includes a research agenda in transformational leadership, justice, and social awareness. As a Christian, she believes that all believers have the responsibility to care out those things because God does. That integrating social justice into the curriculum from a Christian perspective starts with understanding that God is involved in our world and He does not play favorites. Those themes are woven into the fabric of her curriculum and included in the dissertation process as well.
Dr. Pauls lives in South Bend, Indiana with her husband, Galen. The have been married 38 years and have 4 adult children and 4 beautiful grandchildren.
