Frequently Asked Questions

We suggest checking the spam folder of your email inbox first. The confirmation email was sent to whichever email you used to register for the event. If you still can’t find it, please reach out to your Admissions Counselor.

For families coming from a distance, we recommend flying into Midway International Airport in Chicago. The River Valley Metro is an affordable bus system that will transport you from Midway right to ONU’s campus. We have also had families utilize Reliable Limo to travel to campus from the airport. If your family has a financial burden that makes it difficult to travel, please let us know so we can work together to make your visit to Orientation possible.

You will check-in at the Hawkins Centennial Chapel when you arrive to campus.

Students have the option to stay overnight in campus housing. Make sure to select this option when registering for Orientation.

Parents are encouraged to check out our list of Area Hotels, many of which offer ONU discounted rates.

Bring your questions and any relevant paperwork needed to complete enrollment steps, such as your Financial Aid Award Letter. Students staying overnight in campus housing will need to bring their own toiletries; linens will be provided.

Not necessarily. You can select your roommate for orientation or be paired with a random student. This does not have to be the same roommate as the fall semester, but it definitely can be. Your roommate selection at Orientation does not mean you are roommates in the fall. You must make it official by telling your Admissions Counselor.

We recommend checking out some of our local restaurants for dinner Thursday. Later that evening there will be a dessert reception for parents and supporters. Students will have food provided during the late-night activity. Friday we will provide complimentary breakfast in the dining hall for students and families. Lunch will also be provided Friday during the event.

We do our best to accommodate allergies and dietary restrictions. When registering for orientation, please make note of any dietary restrictions.

The final session of Orientation—Welcome to Olivet—is one of our favorite parts of Orientation, so you’ll want to stick around for it! This session should wrap up by 3:30pm Friday afternoon.

New student move-in day is Saturday, August 23. JumpStart Conference is August, 24-26. The first day of fall classes is Wednesday, August 27.
